I can not stress how important it is to stay focused on you.
If you have come this far you can positively say that you are a strong individual, where it be showjumping, eventing, hacking or hunting because sitting your tiny little tush on a 700lb animal is an achievement in itself and you do that everyday without thinking so going out and steering it and controlling it over fences whilst under pressure is on another level and that is why I feel compelled to write this piece.
Yes, going out competing is amazing and gives you the thrill you need but once upon a time you just wanted to get out and compete, you didn't give a continental about winning or losing, getting out on your pony and looking well was the best feeling in the world and it was enough. That slowly turned into wanting to get a rosette which turned into getting two clear rounds, which lead to qualifying, which in turn ended up in wanting to win the whole shibang!
Wanting to win is not the problem, let me be clear about that, it's how you remain throughout the process.
Be kind, Be patient, Be humble and always remember why you started!
